June 24 will forever be a monumental day for the pro-life movement and America. On this day one year ago, the historic Dobbs decision was handed down by the Supreme Court, overturning Roe v. Wade and ending the national right to abortion.
This year, on the first anniversary of the fall of Roe, Patriot Mobile joined Students for Life of America, Concerned Women For America, 40 Days for Life, Live Action, and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America in hosting the National Celebrate Life Day Rally in Washington, D.C. Pro-lifers gathered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to celebrate this historic win, honor past heroes, and invigorate the movement to forge ahead in the fight to protect the lives of all Americans, born and preborn.
Pro-life heroes Dr. Alveda King, Marjorie Dannenfelser, Penny Nance, Ryan Bomberger, Michael Knowles, Lila Rose, Vice President Mike Pence, Shawn Carney, and others gave inspirational and empowering speeches to a lively crowd that morning.
“One year ago, my team and I waited on the steps of the Supreme Court to witness history, an end to the tyranny of Roe v. Wade,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “Today, we call for 14th Amendment Constitutional protections for all the preborn, as we protect life in law and in services across the country.”
“I am all for states’ rights, but no state has the right to murder,” said Daily Wire host Michael Knowles. “Murder is not a right. Murder is not a right because it is wrong…and no state, no nation has the right to do wrong.”
Leigh Wambsganss, Patriot Mobile’s Chief Communications Officer, spoke about her pro-life convictions and why Patriot Mobile will always fight for life. “Our preborn patriots are guaranteed the right to life, not only in our country’s founding documents but in the most important document – the Holy Bible,” she acknowledged.
“Patriot Mobile is honored to co-host today’s National Celebration of Life Day,” said Wambsganss. “Our mission is to passionately defend our God-given constitutional rights and freedoms, and to glorify God always. That includes defending preborn patriots’ constitutional and Biblical right to life!”
It was a celebratory yet solemn morning as the speakers and attendees remembered the 62 million babies who were aborted during the 49 years that Roe v. Wade was the law of the land.
In the evening, Patriot Mobile also co-hosted the National Celebrate Life Day Gala where we honored several past heroes who made significant contributions to the pro-life movement. The speakers commended Dr. Bernard Nathanson, Phyllis Schlafly, Dr. Mildred Jefferson, Joe Schiedler, Nellie Grey, and others who for years worked tirelessly toward abolishing Roe, although many never saw the result come to pass in their lifetime. We acknowledged that we stand on the shoulders of these giants as we look toward the future of the movement.
The Patriot Mobile team was blessed to help organize and participate in the day’s events. We were encouraged to see so many dynamic, young pro-lifers come from all over the country to join in solidarity in standing for life and recommitting to fighting for life in post-Roe America.
“On these steps great men and women have spoken inspiring words and launched important movements that led to the fullfillment of our promises of our country’s founding, like the promises laid forth in the Declaration of Independence that says our unalienable right to life is endowed by our creator,” said Wambsganss. “The fulfillment of those promises was embodied in our 14th Amendment that clearly says no state shall deprive any innocent person of life.”
